Marvel O Man; The Institution of the Eucharist

The Institution of the Eucharist

Marvel, O man, at the sweet goodness of our God,
who deigned and desired to dine
with those who would soon desert Him!
Marvel, O man, at the humility of our King,
                                              who washes our wandering feet
with water and blood from His side!
Marvel, O man, at the rich generosity of Christ,
who gives His Blood and Body
                                              to become our saving feast!
Marvel, O man, at His Love Outpoured,
                                              and drink, thirsty soul!
Marvel, O man, and remember He
                                              who said
“Do this in memory of Me.”

                                                    -Sr. Sarah Marie Pratt- novice

This piece is a poetic adaptation of St. Bonaventure’s reflection “Jesus, Consecrated Bread,” in his book The Tree of Life.
